Chairman: Peter Carcas
Peter founded etc sussex to help meet the education and training needs of people from disadvantaged communities in Sussex. As well as using his experience in the fields of education and guidance he undertakes our funding applications and helps with IT.
Peter has been active in the voluntary sector for over 35 years, having set up several leading Hastings based charities. He is currently a trustee of five Sussex based charities, including being the Chairman of four of them. He was formerly the Director of Learning and Skills for Sussex Careers Service, first Director of the ‘East Sussex Education Business Partnership’ and founding Vice Chairman of the ‘National Association for Assessment and Guidance’. He has a Degree in Occupational Psychology and is a qualified Careers Adviser. |
Trustee: John Enefer
John works for another local charity as a Grants Administrator and has been active in the local community for many years.
He co-founded Hastings Kurdish Welfare Association and was on the management committee of Hastings Intercultural Organisation. Amongst his other interests are writing and complimentary health therapies. John has many qualifications to do with alternative therapies, IT and PTLLS. |
Trustee: Janice Easton
Janice worked for several years locally in Older People’s Services.. From 2003 until 2013 Janice worked at Marlborough House in St. Leonard’s, looking after the residents, and in conjunction with ESCC formed a Dementia Day Service also located there. Janice also managed a community Support Service that was based in Marlborough House, latterly to become a county wide service .It was in her post of Project manager that Janice first met Peter and become aware of Sussex Housing Trust for the Elderly (SHTE) which owns the freehold of Marlborough House. Throughout this period of time SHTE funded activities and outings for the residents in Marlborough House .
Since retiring Janice has become a trustee firstly with SHTE and latterly with ETC . |

Chief Executive: Helen Barraclough
Helen worked in finance for many years before running a successful business in the craft industry supplying large department stores and mail order catalogues including Harrods and Freemans.
She became a self-employed trainer in 2001. Peter and Helen were both Trustees of Hastings Sheltered Workshop and following its closure she became one of the founding members of etc sussex. She left the board of trustees to take over the management of the charity, having previously done so on a voluntary basis. Helen has been active in the voluntary sector since 2005, having been involved with several Hastings based charities. |
